FORMER Salisbury and Ellingham & Ringwood rugby player Bryony Cleall has been cleared to play for Saracens Women after a charge of allegedly failing to respect the authority of the match official was dismissed.

The Saracens forward appeared before an independent disciplinary panel on Thursday evening following an incident which occurred in the second half of Sunday's 69-10 victory against Blackheath Ladies.

The hearing took place via teleconference and was heard by Gareth Graham as a Single Judicial Officer and, after hearing evidence from the match official and the player, was dismissed.

A spokesman for the RFU confirmed that the player "is free to play with immediate effect". Saracens face Richmond on Saturday (5.15pm).

Bryony has been named on the bench. Her sister Poppy is also a Saracens player and starts in the contest at Richmond Athletic Ground.

SALISBURY Rugby Club's fine start to the new campaign continued on Saturday with victory away at early season strugglers Royal Wootton Bassett.

The Castle Road side's 17-14 win was their fourth in five outings and leaves them fourth in the table, just five points off top spot.

Their fifth defeat in a row means Wootton Bassett remain bottom of the pile.

Next up for Salisbury is a trip to Witney on Saturday (October 7).
