SALISBURY Basketball Club has enjoyed a busy and mostly successful week winning three of the five games played across its age groups.

The Salisbury Sparks (under 12s) were at Poole on Friday evening competing in the Solent Area Basketball Association (SABA) League.

They lost to Weymouth by a single basket before comfortably beating Dorchester by 26 points and remain well placed to make the league finals in May.

Meanwhile, the Salisbury Spires (under 16s) came close to beating Torbay Tigers in Saturday’s National League match, but still ended the season on a high with a great 65-52 win over the travelling Stroud Sharks.

The club’s men’s team, the Salisbury Suns, also won its SABA League game.

They forced their way back into the reckoning after initially trailing to Bournemouth Razors.

The Salisbury Youth Basketball Club has gone from strength to strength over the past few months since relocating to Bishop Wordsworth’s School.

Training is on Saturdays from 12pm-3pm. The club’s advanced group train from 12pm-1pm, then the intermediates from 1pm-2pm, followed by beginners. For more information visit www.salisburybasketballclub.org
