LAVERSTOCK & Ford booked their place in the second round of the Wessex League Cup on Wednesday evening but ultimately needed a penalty shoot-out to see off the challenge of fellow Wessex Division One side New Milton Town.

Graham Mankin gave 'Stock the lead inside ten minutes of the tie at New Milton's Fawcett Fields ground and that's the way it stayed until the break.

However, the contest was all square midway through the second half when Adam Louka netted on 66 minutes for the hosts.

With the match deadlocked at 1-1 at 90 minutes, penalties decided the outcome with Laverstock keeping their cool to go through 5-4 and set up a second round trip to Verwood Town.
