DOWNTON FC are out of the Wessex League Cup at the first hurdle after losing a penalty shoot out following their tie with near-neighbours Ringwood Town.

The Wick Lane contest ended 1-1 at 0 minutes but Town progressed to the second round after winning 4-3 on spot kicks.

Ringwood will now host Sholing.

Also through to the second round are Amesbury Town.

Their 5-2 success away at Portland United earns them an away tie at Lymington Town.
