SALISBURY Racecourse's 2017 fixtures open on Sunday with its now traditional Betfred City Bowl family race day curtain raiser.

Eight races are on the card at the Netherhampton track kicking off at 2pm with the first division of the Betfred Racing 'Like Us On Facebook' Maiden Stakes.

Among the feature races is the Betfred City Bowl Handicap at 4.30pm over a mile and six furlongs. Worth more than £15,000 to the winner, the 11-strong field includes the Richard Hannon-trained Paris Protocol - a winner at the venue 18 months ago. Ryan Moore is aboard the four-year-old.

The venue has undergone a £250,000 refurbishment over the winter months - its main project being a revamp of the Bibury Suite's top floor hospitality boxes - the first since their construction in the 1980s.

The Going is currently Good to Firm (Firm in places).

After a dry start to the day, some showers are forecast.
