WILTSHIRE County Cricket Club won their opening group match in the Unicorns Knock out Trophy when they beat Buckinghamshire on Sunday by one wicket with just three balls to spare.

Winning the toss at Warminster, Buckinghamshire scored 264-9 in their 50 overs.

Masoor Khan made 50, Sherwin Gumbs 55 and George Russell 66 not out while for Wiltshire James Arney took 2-38, Jake Lintott 2-5 and Wes Durston 2-36.

Wes Durston, 73, and Tom Morton, 43, then got Wiltshire off to a flying start in reply putting on 115 for the first wicket in 17 overs.

But a major collapse then saw them lose six wickets for just 13 runs.

Ashur Morrison, 35, and  Jake Lintott, 57 not out, took the score from 138 to 199 when Morrison was out.

Wadworth man of the match Lintott then marshalled the tail and when last man Joe King joined him 20 were still needed.

The last over saw Wiltshire still needing 15, but King scored a four and a single leaving Lintott on strike.

The next ball was an over waist no ball which was hit for four and Lintott hit the free hit for another for which took them to 265-9 and victory.

Wiltshire play their second group match in the Unicorns Knock Out Trophy on Sunday, April 30, when take on Suffolk at Ipswich School.
