WILTSHIRE County Cricket Club enjoyed a perfect start to their 2017 campaign winning both their pre-season friendly matches.

In Salisbury on Saturday they beat Gloucestershire II at South Wilts' ground by five wickets.

Gloucester won the toss and were bowled out for 100 in 35 overs with no player scoring 20.

Andy Carroll took 5-19 and Jake Lintott 3-17.

In reply Wiltshire lost three early wickets but a stand of 61 between Ed Young (38) and Brannon Varley (39) took them to the brink of victory and they finished at 103-5 in 28.2 overs.

Then on Sunday they visited Frocester CC for a 45-over match which they won by three wickets.

Frocester won the toss and scored 249-8 in their 45 overs. Louis Gegg scored 100 (retired) and Nick Trainor 54. There were two wickets each for James Arney, Jake Lintott and Mikey Reynolds.

Wiltshire reached their target off 42.4 overs scoring 252-7 - Wes Durston made 110, Jake Lintott 35 and Mikey Reynolds 25.

This coming Easter bank holiday weekend Wiltshire play their two final warm up matches.

On Sunday (April 16) they take on Berkshire for the Marlborough Cup (which Wiltshire hold) at North Maidenhead CC. Then on Monday (April 17) they travel to North Perrott to play Dorset.
