STEEPLE Langford Cricket Club's preparations for the new season are already well underway with the Hampshire County League side set to start net sessions this month.

New players are welcome to join in the sessions being held at Tollgate Indoor Cricket Centre starting on March 26 (11am-1pm), and at the same times on April 2 and 9.

There have been plenty of changes behind the scenes since last summer - Luke Stephens has taken the reins as first team captain ahead of their County Division Three (North) campaign, while Chris Miles is now in charge for the second string's Regional Division Three (North West) 2017 season.

The club also boasts a large junior section for youngsters aged five to 15. The under nines will be involved in a variety of Kwik cricket festivals throughout the summer while the under 11s, 13s and 15s will compete in the Wiltshire Youth Cricket League.

There will also be a summer cricket fun camp from July 31 - August 2, costing £20 per day or £50 for all three days (details from Andy Foyle - see below).

Steeple Langford will host a number of county matches during 2017. Wiltshire under 12s take on Oxford on Sunday, July 2, while Wiltshire Ladies face both Dorset and Gloucestershire in T20 contests on Sunday, July 16.

The club stages the Wiltshire Youth Cricket league's under 9s Kwik Cricket Festival on Sunday, July 23, while Wiltshire's under 14s play Berkshire on Sunday, August 6.

A club spokesman said: "Steeple Langford always welcomes people on board to get involved with the club, if you are looking to play or participate in any form whether it is playing, supporting, umpiring or scoring."
