1952 Cricket. West Indian cricketing legend Viv Richards is born.
1959 Golf. Tom Lehman is born.
1960 Tennis. Czechoslavakian-born American tennis player Ivan Lendl is born.
1965 Golf. Jesper Parnevik is born.
1973 Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour is born.
1977 Rugby union. Ireland international and British Lions member Ronan O'Gara is born.
1992 Rugby union. England win their second successive Grand Slam title.
1999 Motor racing. Eddie Irvine finally wins a Grand Prix - at the 82nd time of asking.

2004 Athletics. A 74-year-old runner finished last in the Reading half-marathon after she stopped to go the toilet and workmen carried away the Portaloo with her still in it!
2006 Football. Salisbury City defeat Cirencester Town 5-2 in a Southern League Premier Division match. Paul Sales scores twice with Adam Wilde, Chris Ferrett and Alex Haddow also on target.
2015 Cricket. At the ODI World Cup, Ireland keep their hopes of reaching the knock-out stages alive by beating Zimbabwe in a thrilling contest in Hobart. Having posted 331-8, Ireland then dismissed their opponents in the final over, winning by just five runs.
