SALISBURY swimmers Phil Muspratt and Rob Langan compete in the European Masters Championships at London Aquatics Centre this week.

More than 28,000 competitors will take part in the five-day event being staged at the venue used in the 2012 Olympic Games.

Langan, who made his European debut in 2013 and recently enjoyed a confidence-boosting win at the Royal Navy Masters Open Meet, will compete in the 100m and 50m backstroke as well as the 100m freestyle.

He said: "I am really looking forward to competing in London at such an iconic venue. I am swimming really well at the moment so I hope that will continue at this big stage of the season."

Muspratt, who won Welsh, Scottish and British Championship titles this season, is also involved in a trio of events, the 100m and 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.

He said: "These Championships are massive and I hope to swim well. The competition is so high in the 50m and 100m freestyle, so to win a medal would be phenomenal. I'm aware of how tough it'll be, so it's down to me to apply myself well and preform on the day."
