SALISBURY swimmers Phil Muspratt and Rob Langan head to Swansea this weekend for the Welsh National Masters Championships.

The two-day competition at the Wales National Pool in Swansea poses their first major masters challenge of the year.

Muspratt is involved in six events over the two days but insists he is ready to rise to the occasion."I've got the 200m, 100m and 50m, the 100m and 50m backstroke and the 50m butterfly, so it's a big schedule but one that I'm looking forward to," he said.

Langan is targeting wins in the 200m, 100m and 50m backstroke as well as the 100m and 50m freestyle.

Both swimmers are then in action at the British Long Course Championships a month later, followed by the Scottish National Short Course Championships at the end of April ahead of the European Masters Championships at the end of May at the 2012 Olympic pool in London.

Langan says his schedule in Wales is the same as the one he'll swim in London. "This meet really allows me to practice my best events ahead of the Europeans in May, Swansea has a great pool so I'm hoping to swim well."
