ORIENTEERS from South Wiltshire, Dorset, Devon and Somerset competed in Vernditch Wood near Martin on behalf of the Dorset Schools League.

Best performance of the day came from Sarum Orienteers' own Ben Chesters who won the most difficult (blue) course by 8 ½ minutes with Hazel Cutler, of Sarum, winning the Light Green Course, also by 8 ½ minutes.

Mum Janet Thirkell and twin daughters Matilda and Alice all finished close together on the Yellow course which was won by local lads Ben and Theo Cochrane.

In the Wessex Night League competition where competitors used head torches to seek out the control sites, the winner was Dale Paget of Wessex Orienteers scoring 390 points in under the 1 hour limit, 80 points more than second placed Tim Houlder of Wimborne.

Sarum Orienteers will be running another of their popular training evenings at Skew Bridge Sports Field on Wilton Road on March 17th at 7.00 pm.  Training will focus on estimating distance, setting a map and accurately following a course.  The session will end with a social gathering in the Salisbury and South Wilts Sports Club Bar.
