SALISBURY Racecourse stages its richest race of the year this afternoon - the £75,000 Group three totesport.com Sovereign Stakes.

Today's renewal over a mile goes under starter's orders at 4pm and has a field of 11 although Michael Appleby's Cordite is currently described as 'doubtful.'

The William Haggas-trained Yuften is expected to be among the favourites, last year's winning jockey Andrea Atzeni is aboard the three-year-old, which was a Newmarket winner earlier this year and finished second at Chantilly in the Prix Jean Prat last time out exactly a month ago.

Andrew Balding, who trained the 2011 and 2012 winners of the race, has Highland Colori entered, while the Richard Hannon yard is represented by Producer (Richard Hughes) and Anjaal (Dane O'Neill).

Today's meeting at Salisbury starts at 2.20.
