SALISBURY Stingrays swimmer, James Stocks-Reid, competed in Loughborough at the weekend at the Leicester Penguins Level three Open Meet.

Bidding to qualify for the ASA National Championships later in July, Stocks-Reid was in brilliant form. James competed in four events over the course of the competition, achieving Personal Best times in two of his events.

The Salisbury swimmer finished fourth in the 100m butterfly in a time of one minute and three seconds. A personal best time of 25.79 seconds then followed in the 50m freestyle.

Stocks-Reid’s medal haul started with the 100m freestyle as he swept for silver in a new personal best time of 55.26 seconds. A bronze medal followed in the 50m butterfly in a time of 28.35 seconds to complete his weekend’s work.

Although James did not quite manage to gain the national qualifying times he desired, his efforts, PBs and medals displayed the hard work he has put in all season in training, deserving the recognition for his achievements.
