TWO Godolphin Schoolgirls are heading to Holland later this month to represent their countires in the Senior Lacrosse European Championships.

Amsterdam is the setting for the prestigious competition which starts on June 23.

Anna Featherstone, who captains the school first team and was player of the tournament at this season’s National School Championships, has been selected for the England squad.

She will fly out just hours after she finishes her A-levels to join up with her England team mates, which will include former Godolphin pupil, Ruby Smith.

Meanwhile, Iona Dryden will be the youngest player representing Wales at the championships.

Both were in action for their respective countries at last summer's under 19s World Championships in Germany.

Godolphin first team coach, Storm Trentham, said: "These girls are two of the best junior players I have ever seen and they proved this last summer in Germany - as they do week in and week out at school.

"Even though they will be amongst the youngest at the Europeans, I know they will make a huge impact. The only tournament bigger than the Europeans is the Senior World Championships and so to be playing at this level at their age says so much about their ability and dedication.

"To say Godolphin is proud of them is an understatement."

It is highly likely that the Godolphin girls will come face to face with each other in the final, due to be played on June 30.

England will be looking to stop Wales winning the Europeans for the third time in a row.
