SALISBURY athlete Jay Domoney acquitted himself well in Sheffield at the England Athletics age-group indoor track championships, finishing second in his under 17s 800m heat. However, he was beaten for speed in the final, which was won in a new record time of 1:51.6 minutes. At the same event in the under 20s' 400m, 17-year-old Jake Ness made it through to the final only to be drawn in the inside lane from where he did well to claim sixth spot.   Report by John Ruskin

BEMERTON Heath Harlequins visit Horndean on Tuesday evening for their eagerly-awaited Russell Cotes Cup semi-final. It will be the third meeting between the two sides in a month. Heath lost 3-1 at Five Heads Park on February 3, but won 2-0 when they met at Western Way on February 21. Kick off is at 7.45pm. The tie is the first of two semi-finals for Heath in a week. They take on Premier Division leaders Petersfield Town on Tuesday, March 10 at Alresford Town's Arlebury Ground for a place in the final of the Wessex League Cup

SARUM senior orienteers Charlotte and Ricky Thornton excelled in Saturday's British night orienteering championships held at Middleton Woods, near Leeds. The pair showed their orienteering skill in navigating by only the light of a head torch. Charlotte gained first place in the Women’s 70 Long course in a time of 71.34. to become British Night Champion in that class.
