SALISBURY FC will be hoping to reach the last eight of the Southern League Cup this evening (Tuesday) when they visit Stroud to take on fellow Division One South & West side Shortwood United in a third round tie, that was postponed last week due to a waterlogged pitch. The tie is the Whites' first away from home in the competition this season having previously defeated Dorchester Town (10-0) and Winchester City (2-0) at Old Sarum. Shortwood beat Larkhall Athletic on penalties after a 2-2 draw having already knocked out Yate Town 3-1 - both at home. Kick off at Meadowbank is scheduled for 7.45pm.

SALISBURY Hockey Club's men's first team kicked off 2017 with a 2-1 success at home to Yateley. With games involving their fellow promotion hopefuls postponed at the weekend, the Wilton Road club climb to second in the table on goal difference. They now trail Gillingham, who have a game in hand, by two points, and are level with Southampton University. Next up is a trip to Weymouth on Saturday, January 21.

BEMERTON Heath Harlequins take on Hamworthy United in the league for the second time in three days when they meet on Tuesday evening at the Dorset side's County Ground home. Harlequins were 2-1 victors at Western Way on Saturday - goals by Scott Joyce and Richard Jackson securing the spoils. Connor Phillips netted for Hamworthy. Heath are 12th, United are 17th. Kick off on Tuesday is at 7.45pm.
