PLACES are available for children to take part in the 2017 Summer Community Cricket programme being held at South Wilts Cricket Club. The ten-week course, is open to boys between the ages of six and nine (school years 1 to 4) and to girls between the ages of six and 11 (school years 1 to 6). Sessions take place at the club's Wilton Road ground on Mondays, starting on April 24 from 6.15pm to 7.30pm. THREE second half goals were enough to ease Salisbury FC into the semi-finals of the Salisbury Hospital Cup at the expense of Wessex Division One strugglers Andover New Street on Tuesday. The hosts were reduced to ten men just before the hour mark with the Whites breaking the deadlock shortly afterwards courtesy of a Nathan Connelly goal. Christos Papakinstantinou doubled their advantage with Claudio Herbert adding a third for the visitors in the closing minutes. Salisbury will now visit Amesbury Town in the semi-finals. Shrewton United host Bemerton Heath Harlequins in the other last four tie.

THIS year's City of Salisbury ten-mile road race is now officially fully booked. Organisers have confirmed that the limit of 850 starters for the Sunday, April 9 event, part of the Hampshire Road Race League series, has already been reached. Demonstrating the booming popularity of running in the area, this is by far the earliest that race organisers have had to close entries, which include more than 40 from the City of Salisbury club. Places are however, still available for the annual 5k Figsbury Challenge on Saturday, April 1 at Winterbourne Earls. For details visit www.winterbourneearls.org/figsbury-challenge-2017

BEMERTON Heath Harlequins caused an upset on Tuesday evening beating Wessex Premier Division leaders Moneyfields 3-1 to reach the final of the Russell Cotes Cup. Jake Rawkins, Sam Griffin and Jake Burgess were on target for the visitors, who now face either AFC Portchester or Gosport Borough in the final.
